Nicholson was going to make three 'Chinatown' movies;
but stopped after two......
The reason never said.....
was that after two;
He had achieved Perfection........

It could happen that there were two of three Best Pictures in a 'year'
and/or two or three best actresses and actors in a 'Year'...
so....
The number of academy awards awarded in a category should be Variable.....

I personally think it's lovely when my father brings us with him to different events. I just wish they would get the names right.
My sister is Domenica Cameron Scorsese and I am Catherine Scorsese.
Julia is my fathers 2nd ex wife and Domenica's mother.
Great job , whoever wrote the captions. You might want to check your facts.

It would be great for kids and people in less fortunate places to be given not just the time and energy but the millions that are wasted on people honoring each other repeatedly. Where are the awards for movies and entertainment that contribute significantly to our moral, ethical and spiritual valves that have vanised from the big screen? We have galmorized evil, sin, drugs, people choosing to destroy their lives and all in the names of popularity. This industry hides the wrong being done in the name of creativity and behind contributions that make them look good not the one who brought them life.

Sort of like politicians holding dinners at $50,000 a seat and then we have these pols "helping out" big oil and banks with handouts and then giving subsidies to farms, etc. Now that is a major waste of our money--wouldn't you agree. As for glamorizing evin, sin, drugs, etc.--let's look at the GOP pols who have committed adultery and get re-elected, or how about Rush and his drug habit?

Here we are again, celebrities given awards to each other, time and time agian. No wonder they think they are important and famous. They have so many awards. Wow. But really is "Who cares."

Yeah. I have heard this complaint this year more than any other year that I can remember. I rarely watch the show but do watch the highlights. So I thought about it a bit. In sports you have the playoff system until you have a final victor. What are the options in the film industry? The Academy can vote on all the winners and just come out with the winners in the paper without any fan fare. But remember. It wasn't always like it is today. Even still. I think it is kind of "cool" (Ha, I'm 54 years old) that all of these actors get together and see each other. It enables them to form bonds and make friends which I see nothing wrong with. Many of these actors and actresses never get a chance to socialize, outside of all of these Award shows but just think. If you are a hard working actor or actress and you are really good at what you do, wouldn't you like to be recognized as the "Best" in that particular year at what you do? Yes, they get paid a lot but they also work for long hours with little sleep. To me, that is a crappy existence so all in all, let them get a breather and enjoy themselves for a few nights out of the year. This excludes, of course, all of the vain professionals and there are many of them but there are also many very special people in this industry. Just some thoughts I have had!

Exactly- and it's entertainment for the rest of us--to see what they are wearing and who wins.

I know. Over the years we keep seeing the same names nominated....George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda, Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts.....multiple nominations.
